Toki no Kane is one of the most iconic spots in Kawagoe, and seeing it in person really feels like stepping back in time. The wooden bell tower has a quiet, dignified presence, and the whole area around it—lined with old warehouses and traditional shops—creates a beautiful atmosphere. The bell rings four times a day, and hearing it echo through the streets is honestly pretty magical. It’s a great photo spot, especially at sunset when the light hits the tower just right. Visited Toki no Kane while exploring Kawagoe. It’s a well-known landmark with historical significance, and it’s nice to see in person if you’re already walking around the old warehouse district.
That said, it felt a bit underwhelming. The structure itself is fairly small, and there isn’t much to do beyond taking a quick photo. If you’re expecting a major attraction, you might be disappointed.
Overall, it’s worth a short stop as part of a broader stroll through the area, but not something to go out of your way for.

Clock Tower – A landmark of Kawagoe, the Little Edo area, where the daily chimes create a rich historical atmosphere that immerses visitors.
Confectionery Alley – A hub for various snacks and traditional wagashi (Japanese sweets), as well as shops selling Kikawa (Japanese yokai) goods. It's a fun place to stroll, enjoy sweets, and take photos.

Kawagoe is a charming small town with a romantic feel, especially toward the evening when the lights come on and the streets feel calmer. The old-town area has a nostalgic atmosphere with traditional buildings, small shops, cafés and off course the clock-tower landmark, making it perfect for a relaxed walk and photos. It’s not a big place, so exploring feels easy and unhurried.
The best part is that you don’t need to go far from Tokyo to experience this vibe. From Shinjuku, it takes around 45–55 minutes one way by train, depending on the route. That makes Kawagoe a great and convenient day tr

Went on Golden week. Lots of people. The bell tower is the symbol of Kawagoe and denotes that time is indispensable for daily life. The bell rings 4 times a day - 6 am, 12am, 3pm, 6pm.
