Mitsukoshi Ginza

Mitsukoshi Ginza is a large luxury department store located in Tokyo’s Ginza district, known for its high end fashion, cosmetics, food halls, and premium Japanese and international brands. The building is multi-level and highly organized, with different floors dedicated to categories like designer fashion, beauty products, home goods, and specialty foods. Been there at least three times for our short three days of stay in Tokyo. Found a very good charcoal grill unagi restaurant up on the 12 floor if not mistaken. The restaurant is facing the escalator. You won’t miss it. FYI, the unagi has a little crisp texture and the taste was super good. Charcoal grill has limited number of orders per day. So be there earlier. We waited for a while before we could get a table. Anyhow, it worth a wait 😉

I usually visit this store only to purchase watches. They offer tax-free shopping and also provide a 5 to 10% discount, depending on the time of your visit. Most of the watches are in excellent condition. Occasionally, they have some rare or limited-edition watches. I’ve been to Japan twice, and each time, I made sure to visit this store to buy my watches. They have a great selection of Grand Seiko watches. If you’re new to buying watches or looking to purchase a brand-new one, I highly recommend this store.

On the 7th floor of the iconic shopping centre is the Art Aquarium, featuring many types of goldfish in tanks of different shapes and sizes with amazing lighting. It was pretty but it only featured one type of fish, and some of the tanks seem pretty tight for the fish

There are many a Mistukoshi but this one at the Ginza crossing's meeting spot with a Lion statue at the entrance is probably the most iconic and famous Mistukoshi of them all facing the equally famous Seiko clock tower on the roof across the street. Too much to recommend inside Mistukoshi, but do go down to B2 food floor and in the corner is a traditional sweets shop where my wife regularly goes for sweet red bean with mochi rice ( O HA GI ).
