Blanton Museum of Art

Thoughtfully curated and had some stunning pieces of European art, Latin American art but also really has lots of contemporary and modern art. And some of the most thought provoking installations. Loved this museum, not super massive like the MET so you can absolutely see everything in a couple of hours without feeling rushed. The Ellsworth Kelly building is beautiful and when the sun hits just right, it leaves you captivated by the kaleidoscope of color that washes over the space. Absolutely worth checking out while visiting Austin.

As an artist teacher that's has 15 years taking students to museums and galleries, I give Blanton Museum points for their latest show on Data driven Art. Run the code is alot of fun and the interactive works are smart and amazing. The feature artist will definitely intrigue you. My students love exploring and discovering each piece. The spaces for the rest of the museum are excellent. Its not big and spread out like the DMA in Dallas or the MFA Houston. Pleasantly surprised with this small museum. The American Modernism exhibit & the Nguyen exhibit were excellent! The digital art exhibit was very interesting and exceeded expectations. The museum makes good use of the space and the lighting is good. Free admission on Tuesday. They are building a cafe that will open in September.

Lovely, lovely, lovely museum that never fails to impress—full of stunning works, fascinating artists, and details you didn’t even know to look for. Featuring artists like Ellsworth Kelly, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Mario Rangel Sánchez, the collection feels both personal and expansive. The space is consistently clean, and the staff are always welcoming and kind. I’ve been coming to the Blanton Museum of Art for over a decade—whether for yoga sessions, or visits with family and friends. It’s more than a museum; it’s a meaningful part of the community.

Really enjoyed it. Some fantastic installations and an eclectic collection of a variety of art. Not world leading but a very enjoyable experience for a smaller museum. Staff were lovely throughout.
