If you have high expectations when you hear the words "Japan's Dover," you might be surprised at how low it is. However, this isn't a place to admire the scale of the place from afar, but a place to come face to face with the "geological strata" up close. As it has been designated a geopark, there's a romantic atmosphere to be felt as you experience the history of the earth, eroded by waves and piled up in layers. It's not flashy, but you can feel the heartbeat of the earth as you stroll along it... it's a walking path for connoisseurs. The answer is to set aside your preconceptions and immers

I rented a bicycle in front of Choshi Station and pedaled there for about 15 minutes. I was amazed to see the huge mille-feuille-like geological layers stretching into the distance. There were also panels explaining the origins of Byobugaura, which was very informative. I'd like to go again.

It's a pilgrimage to the location of my favorite band's music video. ☺️ The weather was perfect that day, making it a perfect location. ☀️ The ocean was also beautiful, and I could even see large fish swimming by. 🐟 When I'm feeling overwhelmed in life, just walking around and listening to my favorite music without thinking about anything else lifts my spirits. This is the kind of place I've always felt. 😊

At first, I tried to go from near Iioka Fishing Port, but a local person told me that the footing was poor from that direction, so it would be better to go from Choshi Marina. There is a promenade from the coast of Choshi Marina, so it was safe to see. There were still beachgoers there, so there were beach huts and it was lively, but other than that, it was just an open space with only toilets. There were magnificent geological formations stretching all along the coastline.

I often visit Choshi City, and had only vaguely seen Byobugaura from afar, so I decided to drop in. There is free parking next to the beach. It wasn't very noticeable from a distance, but up close it was much more impressive than I expected. Explanations of the geological strata are written here and there, so I was able to figure out which layer was which and what era it belonged to. I didn't have time, so I was only able to see a small part of it, but the cliffs stretch for 10 kilometers, and the highest point is apparently 60 meters high. I definitely recommend seeing it from up close if you
