The other negative reviews are spot on. We stayed in 4 different hotels during this Japan trip, and the Strings was by far the worst. One hotel we stayed at was a 3-star that was way better than this hotel.
I’ll acknowledge the only positive, the location is super convenient as it is connected to Shinagawa station. You can catch the Yamanote line, Tokyo metro, and Shinkansen all a few steps away.
Otherwise, the room was super small (they refused to upgrade my wife, a Platinum IHG member) and very outdated. It may have been luxurious for the year 2000, but not in 2026.
The food is very low g

This is not a luxury hotel. After 2 weeks traveling in Japan and staying at 5-star luxury hotels and traditional ryokans, the difference was glaring.
The location is well connected via Shinagawa, but after 12 a.m., when the metros close, you’ll realize just how out of the way you are. Expect to spend a lot of money on taxis if you plan on going out at night.
The restaurants should honestly be shut down — they’re a slap in the face to Tokyo’s culinary scene. China Shadow was truly unforgivable.
For breakfast, don’t expect the fluffy omelets the Japanese are known for. The pastries are not fr

The reception and service team were so warm and attentive. This is by far the best Tokyo hotel I have ever stayed in and I do not take this lightly.
They provide that personal touch of warm towel and welcome drink upon arrival and take the time to explain and get you settled.
The room is spacious enough with all the toilet amenities - even mouth wash and some bath salts after a day of walking in Tokyo are provided! Even request for extra towels or bath salts come very quickly! :)
The location is quiet except during rush hour as this is a business district. Try to avoid the rush hour peak in

From the moment we checked in to checkout, the service was excellent, discreet and helpful. No request was too much, even on Christmas Eve, the concierge managed to get us a dinner reservation at the last moment!
Our room was on the 32nd floor. Beautifully appointed room with a nice view.
The location is convenient as a walkway from the hotel leads to the Shinagawa Station. It's 10 mins to Tokyo via the Shinkasen or approx 45 mins by local train or taxi.
Thank you to all the staff you made our stay wonderful and relaxing. If we go back to Tokyo again, will definetely stay at the Strings by

This hotel is phenomenal. The staff are extremely friendly and speak English very well. The concierge desk is open 24hrs and very helpful with directions around town. The location is right next to Shinagawa Station so catching the Trains was a simple 1 minute walk away. During this trip, Ive stayed at the Hotel Granvia in Kyoto, the Hyatt in Shinjuku, and the Hilton Bayside near Tokyo Disneyland and out of all these hotels, the Intercontinental was by far my favorite of them all. We are definitely planning to stay here the next time we come to Tokyo again soon 🤗
